FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MAMMOTH LAKES, CA –- Organizers of the Mammoth Film Festival are excited to announce the inclusion of short films in the 2008 Festival. The 2008 Mammoth Film Festival will take place November 13 - 23, 2008.

The Short Film category will be competitive, and the winner will be awarded the Best Short Film prize. Short films will be accepted in any genre, including animation, music videos, documentaries, and traditional narrative shorts.  No specific limit has been set on the number of short films that will be accepted for 2008.

“Filmmakers produce some very interesting and high quality short films, in every genre, and we’re excited to finally be able to include them in the Festival,” said MFF’s Andreas Wettstein. “It’s an opportunity to give great films more exposure, and it adds even more depth and variety for the audience.”

The Mammoth Film Festival has begun the submission process for both feature and short films. Filmmakers may submit their work through either the official Festival website, or through Withoutabox (www.withoutabox.com).

In addition, feature films with prior distribution commitments or studio backing, which are not eligible for competition, may be eligible for exhibition as a special selection or film premiere.

About The Mammoth Film Festival

The Mammoth Film Festival™ takes place annually, just before Thanksgiving, in Mammoth Lakes, California. It is comprised of a film competition, market and trade show. The Festival celebrates the business of film and its importance in today’s entertainment industry, as well as its impact in the global economy, and hopes to benefit not only the industry’s business side and artistic side, but also the community of Mammoth Lakes.

Mammoth’s geographic location, nearly equidistant from the major population centers of Los Angeles and San Diego to the south, Reno to the north, and San Francisco to the west, makes it a natural nucleus for winter and summer activities. Incorporated in 1984, the Town of Mammoth Lakes sits at an altitude of 7,900 feet, and is surrounded by mountains exceeding 12,000 feet. Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, one of the top ski resorts in the United States, is located just outside of town.
