April 1, 2008 – 10:04 am

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MAMMOTH LAKES, CA–Organizers of the Mammoth Film Festival would like to announce preliminary information regarding eligibility and entry deadlines for the 2008 Festival. The 2008 Mammoth Film Festival will take place November 13 – 23, 2008.

Eligibility for the Competition portion of the Festival is currently limited to independent feature films. Films which have been included in other film festivals in the 2008 calendar year, but meet all other requirements, are eligible. Filmmakers are also advised that while any style of film is eligible, it must be entered under one of four genres: Foreign, Documentary, Drama, or Comedy/Musical. Genre selection is at the filmmaker’s discretion, but must be made at the time of submission.

The Mammoth Film Festival will begin accepting early submissions on June 9, 2008. Deadlines for submissions, complete eligibility guidelines, and associated entry fees will be announced shortly.

Festival organizers are also considering additional opportunities to exhibit films, such as shorts, that do not meet the eligibility requirements for the Competition. Plans will be announced in the coming weeks. In addition, feature films with prior distribution commitments or studio backing, which are not eligible for the Competition, may be eligible for exhibition as a special selection or film premiere.

About The Mammoth Film Festival

The Mammoth Film Festivalâ„¢ takes place annually, just before Thanksgiving, in Mammoth Lakes, California. It is comprised of a film competition, market and trade show. The Festival celebrates the business of film and its importance in today’s entertainment industry, as well as its impact in the global economy, and hopes to benefit not only the industry’s business side and artistic side, but also the community of Mammoth Lakes.

Mammoth’s geographic location, nearly equidistant from the major population centers of Los Angeles and San Diego to the south, Reno to the north, and San Francisco to the west, makes it a natural nucleus for winter and summer activities. Incorporated in 1984, the Town of Mammoth Lakes sits at an altitude of 7,900 feet, and is surrounded by mountains exceeding 12,000 feet. Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, one of the top ski resorts in the United States, is located just outside of town.
