On the forested slopes of Tanzania’s wildlife rich Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Gibb’s Farm is a luxury travel destination – a well-placed jumping off spot for adventure that elevates environmentally and socially responsible practices in every level of their operations. All construction adheres to sustainable building practices and virtually all building materials are salvaged and reused. Large scale composting fortifies the working 30-acre organic farm that produces 80% of the food served on the property. Gibbs is also home to the Tanzania’s largest solar water heating system, complemented by a natural water treatment system that leverages the filtration properties of calla lilies, papyrus and cat tails to clean grey water on its way to irrigate the farm’s crops.
