The traditional feature film tournament will present outstanding independent films in four genres: Drama, Comedy, Documentary, and Foreign. The short film tournament will include both documentary and narrative shorts.
For 2009, we are welcoming films in two new categories: Green Films, and Extreme/Action Sports Films. Also new for 2009 is the Screening Series, a select group of films presented out of competition.
Competition
The 2009 Festival will feature five separate film competitions, and will present nine awards:
The main Feature Film competition is an elimination-style tournament, voted on by the audience, and will determine the winners of Best Drama, Best Comedy, Best Documentary, Best Foreign, and the overall Best Picture awards.
The Short Film competition is divided into Documentary and Narrative genres, with an award for the top film in each.
The Green and Extreme specialty competitions will determine the winners of Best Green Film and Best Extreme Sports Film.
The Screening Series is not competitive, and no awards are presented in this category.
